ECCP Standardization Golden Rules and Obligations

ECCP supports the development of norms, standards, and certification schemes. Their development is supported by invited experts willing to collaborate and contribute to the development of such new standards. The following golden rules clarify important principles that all experts and contributors must accept and respect in order to participate in and contribute to ECCP normative development activities:

  • ENSURING ORIGINAL IPR-FREE CONTRIBUTIONS: All contributions made to ECCP working groups shall be free and exempt of third-parties intellectual property rights. Each contributor shall ensure that their contributions are not breaching third-parties rights. Any identified issue related to third-party intellectual property rights shall be communicated in writing to ECCP without undue delay.
  • RESPECTING CONFIDENTIALITY: All information and documentation shared in the context of normative development, including in Standardization Working Groups, shall be handled as confidential information, except if it is already publicly available or it has been published by ECCP.
  • DISCLOSING POTENTIAL CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: Experts and contributors shall inform ECCP in writing if they identify any potential conflict of interest.
  • AUTHORIZING CONTRIBUTION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Contributions to ECCP normative development are made on a voluntary and pro bono basis without counterpart. To honour these contributions, ECCP is authorized to communicate the names of the contributors to the developed norms, except for those who have previously requested in writing to remain anonymous.  
  • IPR MANAGEMENT: All documents and results of ECCP normative development activities are the exclusive intellectual property of ECCP, which is in charge of their dissemination as deemed adequate.
  • COMMITMENT TO RESPECT ECCP RULES, PROCEDURES, and DECISIONS: Contributors and experts commit to respect ECCP rules and procedures, as well as ¨decisions of designated chairs and officers. 
  • PARTICIPATION CONDITIONAL TO RULES ACCEPTANCE: The acceptance of these Golden Rules and the commitment to comply with them is a formal prior condition to any participation or contribution to ECCP normative development and activities, including participation to ECCP international board of experts and standardization working groups.
